Orlando City Soccer Reaches New Heights

Hola!!

Last Saturday, Urbe Prima had the privilege of playing a show at Florida’s Citrus Bowl, opening for the Orlando CS V.S. Fluminense game. It was a very joyful experience for me to see two of my passions, music and soccer, synch into a perfect harmony. The Orlando CS  has done a remarkable job bringing people together for the 2013 season games, including setting up a concert series, which showcases the talent of Orlando’s local bands.

But Saturday proved to be a great experience not only for Urbe Prima, but also for everyone involved. That night, Orlando City played and awesome game versus Fluminense FC in front of 11,127 fans at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl, an international friendly club record for attendance. The mark was previously set back in July of 2011 against the English Premier League’s Newcastle United with 10,889. The first half was pretty even and both teams displayed great game. And even though Orlando fell 4-3, the last minutes of the game were filled with excitement as Orlando came back from a score of 4-1, scoring twice in less than 10 minutes; moreover, the experienced gained by playing one of the best teams of Brazil was invaluable.

With this great gathering of Orlando soccer fans, i can’t wait to see what is in the horizon for Orlando City’s promising work.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank Chris Goyozueta, Emily Kopp, and all of the ONElive Music team for their support on this event, as well as the Orlando CS for their amazing campaign this season, as well as their support for local talent.

And of course, I want to also thank Yamilet Trujillo, Jj Pattishall, and Hugo Luquis for their contribution to my show, I could not have done it without you!

Check out some pictures of this event here.

Ok guys, once again thank you for listening and reading, and stay tuned for more Urbe Prima.

Some of New Orlean’s Hidden Treasures

Hola!!!

I wanted to tell you about my last show in New Orleans @ House of Blues’ Big Mama’s Lounge, as well of some amazing places I visited I thought you might want to check out.

First of all, I want to send a big THANK YOU to my friend Chris Goyozueta and the House of Blues staff for being amazing and helping me have a super smooth and fun performance. If you go to NOLA, make sure to visit them! they have a variety of stages and shows every night, plus all of the goodness House of Blues has to offer, New Orleans style; you will always find something of your interest.

Ok, so, as i was roaming around the streets of NOLA, I found some awesome places music junkies like myself definitely need to check out:

The first one is the prestigious Louisiana Music Factory. They are a specialty record store that focuses on local NOLA music, ranging from Funk, Jazz, and Big Band music to Blues, Swing and all of the classics Louisiana has been a cradle for. Of course they do specialize on  vinyl, and have amazing in-store shows for several of their releases. Regardless of your musical preferences, this is a spot worth visiting.

The second place I would like to mention is another record store, this time is Euclid Records. A few miles away from the French Quarter, this gem holds an extensive array of music, from the classics to the brand new. One great activity they have going at Euclid’s is their vinyl Live In-Store/45 rpm Release Series. These limited edition 45’s are all recorded right here at 19 North Gore home of Euclid Records. The songs are hand picked by the performers and limited to only 300 copies with framable artwork by some of the best artists and graphic designers in the country. One dollar for every record pressed will be donated to New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund, an organization that does great work replacing lost and damaged equipment in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. These guys are awesome!

Finally, I wanted to thank and mention Tulane’s University College Radio Station WUTL 91.5. They were super kind and announced my show at Big Mama’s! WTUL is a progressive/alternative FM radio. The station, operated primarily by students of Tulane University, offers a mix of cutting-edge progressive, electronica, classical, New Age, straight ahead jazz, folk, blues Latin, world reggae, show tunes, kid’s show and an eclectic mix of a variety of genres. This legendary station recently won Editor’s Pick for Best Radio Station in The Gambit’s Best of New Orleans 2012 and was voted Radio Station of the year by OffBeat Magazine in 2010.

Well, that is all for now, stay tuned for news about my show this week at Florida’s Citrus Bowl!

Laberintos Album Release Show

Hello all, hope you had an amazing weekend!

Well, what can I say? What words could describe what I felt last Friday? How can I express how happy I felt surrounded by such an amazing group of people in such an amazing place?

This is my best attempt:

Indeleble memories, waves of energy: an unapologetic smile in the face of adversity.
An ocean of luminescence, a peek into the infinite, where time is motionless: an undeniable echo.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who had a part in helping build this wonderful event:

You, the wonderful audience! Without you there is no show; the Tacatantán Records Family: Abdías Ernesto García, Abe Otero, Carolina Suarez-García; my amazing friend and visual artist Reina Castellanos; the remarkable photographic eye of Rosa Villoslada; Yamilet Trujillo, Hugo Luquis, Marcela Garcés and Meche Ausina, thank you for honoring me by joining me on the stage and for helping me build “Laberintos”; Adriana Romero, thanks for your kind words and help with the merch; Diana Jaramillo, thank you for all you do, your unflinching support, for being the muse, and for making every battle worth fighting for.

You, all of you made this night so special and unique! I will cherish this show and use it as fuel for what’s coming. Thank you for believing in my work. I can only promise I will keep working hard to bring you more music. There are quite a bit of surprises coming up!

As always, hank you so much for listening!! Have a great week!
