Ever since I got up on a stage to let my voice be the channel for my scribbles to ride the wind, I have been an independent artist. I have always believed on the do-it-yourself philosophy and thus applied it to everything I do.
Beyond the illusions of grandeur sold to musicians by the old money-making machines of the music business, I always felt all I wanted was to sing my songs for those who wanted to listen. Hardly ever did I ever think of a record label as an option for someone who, like me, never wanted to be told what to do, neither artistically, nor ethically. Thus, I followed my path trying to be better everyday. This search has led me towards amazing individuals who have changed my life in transcendent, positive ways, many of who I am now able to call friends.
It was through a friend, graphic designer Marcela Garcés, that I was able to meet Abdías Ernesto García, the man who established Tacatantán Records. After collaborating on a few projects and shows, I started to feel a connection with the Tacatantán team; their philosophy was that of a family, where everyone shows care for each other through professionalism, while respecting the principles of everyone who is a part of it. For the first time ever, I felt I did not have to walk alone in my path towards my music career goals.
Soon after, Abdías Ernesto García and Urbe Prima started roaming the country to take their music to the people in the simplest, most candid way. After all these experiences, filled with the happiness brought by the results of hard work and a relentless aim for professionalism, I felt I had found a team I could trust and feel comfortable with, a family. I have been fortunate to have found an environment where I can contribute and learn at the same time.
This is why I am proud to announce that Urbe Prima’s 1st single “Paredes de Fuego”, as well as my new album “Laberintos”, will be released under Tacatantán Records.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Tacatantán family for having adopted me as one of their own. It is an honor to work with you, and I can’t wait to see what more we can build together.
