Artist of the Week: Urbe Prima – Official Rock For Hunger Blog

“Urbe Prima just might be the first Spanish band featured on this blog… one would argue that such a feat is a completely separate and noteworthy honor altogether… Leo, the band’s frontman has been taking part in RFH events for over a year now… Even without the band behind him, you could easily identify with his songwriting and knack for song construction.”

Tacatantan Showcase: The People’s Night

Ok, so the Tacatantan Records Acoustic Showcase that took place at Natura last Friday was, simply, a night full of emotion.

I do not say this loosely. I mean, for instance, all of the amazing people who decided to come out and support local talent were in a state of social nirvana. The venue reached capacity and everyone was in an amazing mood. There were friends meeting after a long time, individuals ready to meet new acquaintances who share similar interests, people amidst a sea of opportunity to live what I consider the ultimate purpose of art: make people feel alive and connect to themselves and each other.

On the other hand, there were the overwhelming feelings that took over me that evening. I was so happy for so many reasons, that I was literaly choking with emotion during my performance. This night meant so much to me, and there were so many important people in that room, that I was having a hard time collecting air to spit out notes and words. What a night!

Nevertheless, the energy of everyone that night, fueled me to pay my respects to everyone who believes in Urbe Prima. I sang, despite feeling overwhelmed, because the energy of the audience was so genuine, I could not refuse. Believe me when I say you guys are the reason I sing, you make it all worth it!

I also wanted to thank Marcela Garces and Abdias Ernesto Garcia for sharing the stage with me during my performance, it was an honor!

As if this was not enough, there were impromptu performances by several of our beloved local artists. On that note, I want to make a remark regarding this event: the organizers gave people an opportunity to experience art on a transcendent level. Here is where Tacatantan Records has got it right: These guys are creating an environment where committed artists and people can interact. It has been a while in the making, but Taca is breaking through and I feel happy and honored to be a part of what they do.

As always, thanks for listening.
